Empowerment and Inauguration Ceremony of the New Buddharupa (statue of the Buddha) and Installation of the Relics of the Buddha Ceremony

Wat Buddhametta would like to invite you to participate in the Empowerment of a new Buddharupa (the statue of the Buddha) and the installation of the relics of the Buddha inside the crown of the Buddharupa.

The ceremony will be held inside the Buddha Room at Wat Buddhametta on the eve of the full moon of July 27, 2018 from 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. (You may drop in at any time during the ceremony and leave when you wish.)

Outline of Ceremony

 5:30  p.m.           -The Assembly of Members and Friends of Wat Buddhametta at Wat Buddhametta

6:00 p.m.            -Mrs. Pairee Dignan, A main sponsor of the inauguration of the new Buddharupa (statue of Buddha) lights the incense and candles to begin the                                                     ceremony

                                -Taking Refuge and Taking the Five Precepts of Moral Discipline

                                -The Sangha begins the blessing chanting of the Empowerment of the new Buddharupa

8:00 p.m.            -The Installation of the Relics of the Buddha on the top of the crown of the new Buddharupa

                                by Ajahn Sarayut, Abbot of Wat Buddhametta. The Sangha chant the Dhammajakkappavatta Sutta

                                -Mrs. Pairee Dignan and all the community members offer the new Buddharupa to the Sangha

                                -Offering gifts to the Sangha at the ceremony

                                -The Sangha offers blessings to all community members

8:30 p.m.           -Chanting of the Dhammajakkappavatta Sutta by the Sangha and everyone in the ceremony

                               -Guided Meditation session

                               -Candlelight Walk around the Buddharupa and then Watering the Bodhi Trees in the garden.

9:30 p.m.           -Thank you and closing remarks by Ajahn Sarayut Arnanta, the Abbot of Wat Buddhametta
-The Ceremony ends.
